If spare time is something you frequently seem to come across, then my blog may be just the thing you need!

This week's idea actually comes from my roommate. In true Autumn fashion, to fill up that extra time, you should be picking! And I don't mean bougars... This is the time for pumpkin picking. Pick a day when the weather will be nice and head to Meredith, NH. Moulton Farm reaches over 180 acres and grows a variety of fresh produce, flowers and herbs. Not only does Moulton Farm have big orange pumpkins to pick out and carve, but spend half the day lost in some corn! The Moulton Farm corn maze is always a big attraction for people of all ages. Cut into the corn is a huge imagine of a cornucopia and 2010. Not much to look at from the ground, but the birds eye view is an imagine to remember. So get a bunch of people together, hope in the car and head to Meredith (about 25 minutes away). See who can navigate through the corn maze first, but don't loose anyone. Then maybe play some trivia and pick out a big orange pumpkin to take home and carve, just in time for Halloween.

This week's spare time filler idea happens right here at Plymouth State. Today, Wednesday the 22nd, at 3:30 pm the Womens Tennis team has a match againsts Vermont's Castleton State. The Plymouth ladies have been playing well this year with a record for far of 3-1 and a Conference record of 2-1. Loosing only so far to Umass Dartmouth last week, the Panthers will be looking for win today. Plymouth, a match or so ago, pushed past Endicott College to win 8-1. Plymouth State hasn't been too strong for Endicott since 2004, needless to say this was a match to remember, for both teams. All three doubles teams (1. Sara Burke & Molly Heartfield 2. Rachel Figura & Lydia Smith 3. Laura Donovan & Elizabeth Silsby) brought home the win with scores of 8-5, 8-3 and 8-3. The solo victory for the Endicott Gulls was taken by no. 1 Kate Cioffi. Our Panthers fought to bring home every other singles victory. The women of the our tennis team are hoping to go a long ways in conference play this year and our support is necessary! Grab and on the go, a few friends and head down to the PE center to see some Panther tennis domination!

This week's spare time idea comes from the mountains. Hiking is a huge draw to New Hampshire and the White Mountains. About a 20 minute drive through Squam Lake area and down route 113 is the entrance to the Rattlesnake Mountain Trail. Around a 2 mile hike, Rattlesnake is perfect for a sunny day this Fall and takes any where between an hour or two depending on hiking pace and time spent up at the summit. For such a short, relateivly easy hike, the summit of Rattlesnake is very rewarding. With beautiful views of Squam Lake you may feel like you could jump off the summit and into the lake. Whether you are hiking in the winter or the summer, snow or green leaves, Rattlesnake is a very worth while hike and an exellent spare time filler for those lazy Saturdays at Plymouth State.

How much spare time during the day do you find yourself having? Do you enjoy your spare time? Or do you get bored? How do you fill up that time? Without tennis practice this semester, I found myself with a signifigant amount of empty time that needed filling.
How each different person spends their spare time is across the board. Some may spend it shopping or watching movies. Others may spend it outdoors, hiking or running. And some may simply spend it sleeping. The possibilities are endless, yet many people seem to forget this. Especially in a college town the words "I'm bored" should never be heard. My goal is to provide each and every reader with something new and fun to do each week during their spare time. Quit sleeping and go do something new.
This past weekend I filled up my time in Madison, NH (about 50 minutes from Plymouth) at a waterski, wakeboard, kneeboard and wakeskate tournament. The INT Amateur Tour is a tournament that travels around the U.S. providing competition for any that would like to compete. Saturday was filled with flips and 360s while Sunday was competitive waterskiing by those of all ages. Whether you are looking to compete or just go watch others compete, this would be perfect to get all your friends in the car for.
